Sold OutCelebrating the first Chinese Restaurant in Wellington, Master Kong is taking you back to 1948 when The Shanghai Restaurant opened its doors on Courtenay Place. It was famous for its Ching dynasty decor and extensive menu, which included well-tried Chinese dishes, and its legendary sweet and sour pork. Opened by Ng Soon Wah and his son Thomas Carr Yam Ng along with Joe Lai Choy, it was popular with local Chinese as a meeting place and a venue for mahjong. To celebrate this first of its kind, Master Kong is recreating a dish of sweet and sour pork, but it's not like any other sweet and sour you've ever seen or tasted.
