A Sommelier's Journey

Noble Rot Sommeliers Maciej Zimny and Jessica Wood will be raiding the cellar to hand-pick and pour one-off or limited wines that hold a special place in their wine journeys. The food and wine will share a sense of connection and match effortlessly with Head Chef Shantanu Saraf’s expertly curated six-course degustation menu. They look forward to welcoming you to their place to share in their journey through the world of wine.

Cheers To 140 Years!

What's better than celebrating one legendary winemaker's birthday? Celebrating two legendary winemakers' 70th birthdays! Noble Rot has the honour of hosting the Prince of Pinot, Larry McKenna, and Mr. Chardonnay, John Hancock, as they celebrate their milestone birthdays over a long lunch - and you're invited!

Two pioneers of the New Zealand wine industry come together to share tall stories over a five-course degustation served alongside multiple wines from both winemakers as well as some of their personal favourites.

John was integral in the growth and reputation of Hawkes Bay in the early days of the New Zealand wine industry, and was a huge driving force behind Trinity Hill, now running a wine company, Hancock & Sons.

Larry has been integral in the rise of quality of Martinborough as a wine region, and over the years has had strong connections to multiple Wairarapa vineyards, including Escarpment, Martinborough and Te Muna.

Let's raise a glass and send these two legendary makers of wine into their next decade in style.

Legends Of Place

Wine is about grape variety, place and people, but in certain cases there are wines that are more than this... these are Legends Of Place - wines that are truly THE pinnacle of where they come from and are rarely beaten. Noble Rot will prepare a sumptuous seven-course degustation meal to complement these iconic wines, from top producers, spanning the world. These are rare bottles indeed, so our numbers are strictly limited across two nights and exclusive to the Festival.

Voyage Through Wine

Internationally, especially in the “Old World”, a grape variety isn’t as important as the place it’s grown. The grape reflects the specific sense of place and with the current travel restrictions, the wine has to travel to us to experience the authenticity of the foreign lands.

Join Noble Rot sommeliers Jessica Wood and Josh Pointon for an interactive, informative and fun look at six classic international wines and the regions they come from. The Noble Rot kitchen will provide cheese, charcuterie and freshly baked bread to keep the palates satisfied. This intimate event gives you a chance to interact with the sommeliers and discuss everything about wine. You will be able to buy your favourite wine to take away at the end of the session.
