Explore Visa Wellington On a Plate on the Kāpiti Coast

There’s no better time to explore the Kāpiti Coast than during Visa Wellington On a Plate! While the coast has long been a favourite for beachside day trips from the city, the local food scene gives even more reason to head up and enjoy some top notch kai.
A great event for those curious to explore the coast is the Kāpiti Coast Tasting Safari which takes you on a whirlwind tour of all the best spots. You’ll enjoy a cocktail and nibbles at Hey Coastie, Sunday Cantina, Hola Mexican and Waterfront Bar & Eatery for an afternoon. You have the option of grabbing the bus from the city or joining the tour in the coast, it’s the perfect afternoon getaway for foodies!
For those looking for hands-on tips in the kitchen, Kaibosh presents its popular All Taste No Waste workshop at their depot in Paraparaumu with Kāpiti local Suzette McArtney who worked as a personal chef in Los Angeles before making the coast her home. Helen Turnbull’s 50-50 has always been a local favourite, and this year one of her team joins The Next Gen Cook Off at Everybody Eats, which showcases the top up and coming chefs across the Wellington region.
Throughout the entire Festival foodies can sip and savour various dishes and drinks with Dine and Cocktail Wellington. For 2023 the theme is ‘Breaking the Mould’ and several Kāpiti-based outlets have stepped to the plate. Plus, for every Dine or Cocktail Wellington you rate, you’ll go into the draw to win a foodie trip to Singapore thanks to Singapore Airlines!
Dine Wellington is where chefs get to shine and show off both their skills and creativity in the kitchen. The Jolly Butcher offers a unique twist on classic pub fare with their Master Venison Dine Wellington entry. Hey Coastie literally serves up Doe on Dough which features venison on flatbread, and Hola Mexican has created a fajita of epic proportions with their Mamitas Fajita. For the chocolate lovers Waterfront Bar & Kitchen bring to life A Passion for Chocolate.
